Hi there! My name is Janice Nikkel and I am so delighted to have joined the team at Signal Hill as the new Executive Director.
I have spent many years working in the education field, both locally and internationally. I'm also a parent of four and was actively involved in my kids' public schools, wanting to see them succeed academically, but also emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
I'm married to Peter, a high school teacher who has been on the front lines in education for nearly 30 years. Like all teachers, he has seen dramatic changes in the classroom over the years, especially the significant impact the pandemic has had on students' lives.
At Signal Hill, we are passionate about making a difference in the lives of this next generation. We know that parents and teachers have the most important jobs. Teachers care about their students, but they're also stretched to the limit. Expectations are high, and the demands in the classrooms are even higher.

Signal Hill's Life Education resources cover topics relating to personal growth and development, valuing others, building strong relationships, developing resilience, moral decision making, and creating a healthy relationship with yourself - physically, mentally, and emotionally.
For many of you, you have been friends of Signal Hill since the beginning. As we continue to support educators and parents, there is so much opportunity to truly make an impact in this next generation through giving, volunteering, and helping spread the word.
