We tell stories in many different ways - songs, pictures, books and more. In Indigenous cultures, totem poles are used as cultural symbols and a way to tell stories. This lesson aims to foster respect and appreciation for cultural diversity while inviting the student to engage in the creative and reflective activity of storytelling through totem poles.

Learning Outcomes:

It is expected that students will:

  • Learn what a totem pole is and its cultural significance.
  • Gain an appreciation for Indigenous cultures and their traditions.
