Before we step into a leadership role, we need to ask ourselves why we want to be a leader in the first place. In this episode, we talk about the importance of knowing our why and learn some tips on how to identify it. We also discuss the two main motives that drive people and look at how these different motives affect the way someone leads.

Learning outcomes:

It is expected that students will:

  • Understand the importance of having a clear “why” or motivation behind what they do.
  • Analyze their “why” by learning the difference between reward-based and responsibility-based motives.
  • Explore their own values, passions, and the impact they want to have on the world.

  • Reflection and discussion questions such as:
    • Why is it so important to identify why you want to be a leader?
