What we look like on the outside does not always reflect who we are on the inside. In this lesson, students will explore why judging others and being judged can be hurtful. Students will discover why it is important to get to know someone before they judge them and to recognize that who a person is is more important than what they look like.

Grade level: 3 - 5

Prep time: 10 min

Lesson Duration: 40 min + Optional Extension Activity (10 min)

Learning Outcomes:

It is expected that students will:

  • Recognize that judging people can hurt them. 
  • Identify and explore ways to get to know someone before they judge them.
  • Recognize that who a person is is more important than what they look like.
