Anxiety seems to be more common than ever, but what is it exactly? In this lesson, we learn about the science behind anxiety and how it isn’t always a bad thing.

Learning outcomes:

It is expected that students will:

  • Recognize anxiety as a natural and healthy response to threat.
  • Understand the difference between real threats and perceived threats and why the line between these is so blurry sometimes.
  • Learn about the different ways that anxiety reveals itself both in our bodies and in our minds.

Lesson includes:

  • Workshop video and corresponding Follow Along Sheet 
  • Printable “Square Breathing” Worksheet
  • Warm-up, Core Lesson, and Reinforcement Activities
  • Reflection and discussion questions such as:
    • Do people today too easily say they are anxious? Or is it a reflection of the more difficult times we live in?
