Innovation is a fundamental part of every culture, including Indigenous cultures, where resilience, creativity, and profound wisdom have driven remarkable advancements for generations. Unfortunately, stereotypes can often narrow our view of who can be inventors, entrepreneurs, and change-makers. The reality is that everyone, regardless of background, holds the power to build, create, and inspire.

It is expected that students will:

• Identify key Indigenous contributions in agriculture, science / medicine and sports, and explain their significance in shaping modern society.
• Analyze the role of Indigenous knowledge, innovation and authors in raising awareness of Indigenous issues and influencing Canadian and global culture.
• Appreciate the value of every individual and their unique cultural contributions.
