Ever notice how when you care for yourself well, you tend to care for others and your surroundings well too? In this lesson, students will explore the importance of respecting and valuing self and how that relates to our relationships with others and our surroundings with water as the main example. In Indigenous culture, water is admired as a life-giving source and something to respect.

Learning Outcomes:

It is expected that students will:

  • Identify ways in which the relationships they have with self translates to relationships with others and the environment
  • Recognize the cultural significance of water, particularly within the Indigenous community
  • Understand the essential role of water in the various aspects of life

  • Two Clear containers with water
  • A bag of dirt, sticks, rock and soil
