Healthy foods give us energy and help us grow. In this lesson, students will get to explore how eating different foods helps their bodies grow and satisfies their hunger. Students are encouraged to eat a variety of foods, including fats, proteins, vegetables, and fruits.

Grade level: 3 - 5

Lesson Duration: 35 min + Optional Extension Activity (15 min)

Learning Outcomes:

It is expected that students will:

  • Recognize that eating a variety of healthy foods gives them the energy to grow and learn. 
  • Identify and explore a variety of healthy foods and describe how they contribute to their health.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of which foods fuel them and which foods don’t.
