Showing what makes us feel loved can help us communicate with others what we do and do not like in order to strengthen our relationships. In this lesson, students will learn to identify things that make them feel loved and to recognize that not everyone likes the same things.

Grade level: K - 2 

Prep time: 10 min

Lesson Duration: 30 min + Optional Extension Activities (20 min)

Learning Outcomes:

It is expected that students will:

  • Recognize that there are different ways to give and receive love
  • Understand that not everyone likes the same things
  • Identify 2-3 things that help them to feel loved

Lesson includes:

  • Activate, Acquire, and Apply Activities 
  • Student heart templates (Printable)

Discussion Questions include:

  • What words make you feel loved?
  • Can you think of a time when someone thought they were doing something loving for you, but you actually did not like it?
  • Do you think everyone feels loved from the same things? Why/why not?

  • Large piece of poster paper cut into a heart shape
