Safe & Smart - Lesson Plan Bundle (4 Lesson Plans)

Staying safe often requires us to be aware of the risks and aware of our surroundings. In this unit, students will gain practical knowledge and skills regarding their own personal safety through lessons about when to share a secret, how to stay safe on the internet, and how to deal with bullying. 

Grade Level: 3-5

Learning outcomes:

It is expected that students will: 

• Recognize that there are things they can do to keep themselves safe.
• Identify rules that they can follow that will help them be safe.
• Demonstrate an understanding of personal safety and the role they play in it.
• Recognize that not everyone is trustworthy enough to share their personal information with.
• Identify what makes someone trustworthy and safe.
• Demonstrate an understanding of safe secrets and unsafe secrets
• Recognize that they can’t believe everything they see and read on the internet.
• Identify ways that the internet can be unsafe.
• Demonstrate an understanding of internet safety and the rules that can keep them safe
• Recognize what bullying looks like.
• Identify helpful ways that you can deal with bullying.
• Demonstrate an understanding that bullying is wrong and come up with solutions for bullying situations.
