There are a few key character traits we can develop in ourselves to become better leaders. One of the most important character traits we can work on is authenticity. In this episode, we look at authenticity as it relates to leadership by focusing on the value of being genuine and leading others with integrity and consistency.

Learning outcomes:

It is expected that students will:

  • Explain the core elements of authenticity and how they relate to leadership.
  • Understand the role of trust and relationship in leadership.
  • Explore their identity as they reflect on their likes, dislikes, values, and dreams.

Lesson includes:

  • 5 minute workshop video and corresponding Follow Along Sheet (printable)
  • Core Lesson and Reinforcement Activities
  • Reflection and discussion questions such as:
    • Why is good leadership not solely based on what you do, but also founded upon who you are and what you stand for?
    • What does it mean to lead by example?

    Materials required

    • Screen & speakers for viewing video
    • Poster paper, scissors, glue sticks, and magazines that can be cut up
