Most of us have heard about IQ, or intelligence quotient, but it is actually our EQ, or emotional intelligence, that is of more value in our roles as leaders. In this episode, we look at the importance of self-awareness and learn about four helpful ways to improve our emotional intelligence.

Learning Outcomes:

It is expected that students will:

  • Practice being more attentive and aware of other people’s feelings.
  • Know how to control their response to their emotions without diminishing them.
  • Use a broader range of emotion-based vocabulary to express their emotions.

  • 5 minute workshop video and corresponding Follow Along Sheet (printable)
  • “Emotional Vocabulary” worksheets (printable)
  • Warm-up, Core Lesson, and Reinforcement Activities
  • Reflection & discussion questions include:
    • How is controlling your response to your emotions different from suppressing your emotions?
