Empowering Relationships - Lesson Plan Bundle (4 Lesson Plans)

Our relationships play a major role in shaping who we become. In this unit students will learn what it means to have a healthy relationship with themselves, their friends, and people that are difficult to get along with.

Grades level: 6-8

Lesson Plan Durations: 50-60 mins

Learning outcomes:

It is expected that students will: 

• Recognize that their internal dialogue can give them information about themselves.
• Identify if their self talk is positive or negative.
• Demonstrate an understanding of self talk and how it affects relationships.
• Recognize the characteristics of a good friend.
• Identify if a friendship is healthy, showing warning signs or is unhealthy.
• Demonstrate an understanding of what kind of friends they want to have.
• Recognize that sharing and caring are important in relationships.
• Identify ways that they can share with others to show they care about them.
• Demonstrate that they value being shared with and sharing with others.
• Recognize that there will always be people in their lives that they find difficult to be around.
• Identify the things about people that make them difficult.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the fact that they may be the difficult person in someone else's life.
