Lesson Plan 3: Girls & Gossip

It’s no secret that girls can be hurtful and discouraging to one another. In this episode, we take a closer look at gossip and explore ways that we can stand up for other girls instead of tearing them down.

Learning outcomes:

It is expected that students will:

• Explain the reasons why people resort to gossip, why it spreads, and why it’s so harmful.
• Seek out emotional security, empathy, and honesty as ways to fight engaging in gossip.
• Challenge themselves to question their motivations before speaking about another person or another person’s business.

Lesson includes:

• 10 minute workshop video
• Warm-up, Core Lesson, and Reinforcement Activities
• Reflection and discussion questions such as:
• Is any gossip ever good? If yes, would you still consider it gossip or something else?
• How can you be a safe and trustworthy person for your friends and other girls and how could someone be that for you?
