The way we view our personal identity is shaped by an understanding of our value. Throughout this unit, students will be reminded of their worth and will learn about their unique identity by exploring what they enjoy, who they admire, and where their strengths lie. 

Grades level: K-2

Lesson Plan Durations: 30 mins each

Learning outcomes:

It is expected that students will: 

• Recognize the unique aspects of themselves that make them who they are.
• Identify the attributes that they think are important and valuable.
• Demonstrate an understanding of which attributes they think are important to exhibit themselves.
• Recognize that everyone is different but equally valuable.
• Identify their own talents and things they feel they are especially good at.
• Gain an understanding of the fact that even though sometimes they don’t feel like it, they still matter.

• Old magazines or newspapers, scissors, marker to write name, glue

• Paper, crayons or pencil crayons

What are my special talents?

• 1 or 2 large pieces of paper (large poster board size)
• Pencil crayons or markers
• Scissors

• Optional: Blocks (e.g. wooden blocks)
