Grades 3-5 Curriculum
Social Emotional Learning Unit
Feelings can be strange, complicated, and overwhelming at times. In this unit, students will learn how to identify the emotions they go through, what to do when their feelings feel too big, and what it means to experience empathy. Students will receive tips and tools to help them be in touch with their emotions and feel their feelings.
Mental Health Unit
We are our best selves when our brains and bodies are working together to stay healthy. In order to keep our brains and bodies healthy it is important to know our priorities and identify and practice coping strategies that help us maintain a positive mindset.
What does it mean to be a good friend? In this unit, students will get to explore this important question through interactive lessons about being kind, dealing with people we don’t get along with, sharing with others, and making sure nobody feels left out.
Personal Growth & Development Unit
Body Image Unit
Body image is both mental and emotional. It is not just about what you see in the mirror, it is also about how you feel about your body when you look in the mirror. Having a healthy body image means that you truly accept yourself as you are right now. You don’t need to change in order to accept yourself.
Living in Community Unit
Personal Identity Unit
Knowing who we are helps us live up to our true selves. In this unit, students will get to explore their unique identity by identifying who they are, what they value, and what they’re good at, while learning that they are valuable just as they are.
Physical Health & Wellness Unit
Our bodies are amazing. In this unit, students will learn about the brilliant ways that their body functions and takes care of them, while learning how they can take care of their bodies in return through eating healthy, being active, and listening to their body’s needs.
Healthy food provides us with enjoyment, comfort, and energy; however, our relationship with food impacts what, how, and why we eat. Unhealthy food impacts not only our physical health but our mental health as well. In this unit students will learn how to eat a variety of healthful foods to satisfy their hunger, nurture their mental well-being, help their bodies grow, and celebrate their culture and community.
